DULUTH, GA - Mar 03, 2009 - The Virginia Board of Education has selected Classworks™ comprehensive K-12 instructional software as a Recommended Instructional Intervention for Virginia schools. Developed by Curriculum Advantage™ Inc., Classworks was approved as a Supplemental Instructional Intervention for reading in kindergarten through grade nine.
Classworks provides individualized instruction in reading, language arts, math and science to bring at-risk students to grade level proficiency, accelerate learning for mainstream students, and help English learners build fluency. Classworks includes 14,000 instructional activities drawn from 265 top software titles, along with assessment and reporting, to engage students and increase performance.
Recommended Instructional Interventions were considered only from organizations with solutions proven to be successful in working with low-achieving students. Criteria included: scientifically-based evidence of effectiveness; implementation and capacity for technical assistance; replicability; and correlation with or adaptability to the Virginia Standards of Learning in English.
“The purpose of this program is to help schools adopt and implement instructional interventions that have a proven track record of success at raising student achievement,“ said Melissa Sinunu, chief operations officer for Curriculum Advantage. “We’re honored to have the opportunity to provide Virginia schools with a solution proven to help students achieve proficiency in reading and improve their performance on the Virginia Standards of Learning Tests.”
Indeed, Classworks is going to be used in two districts to provide teachers with a proven solution to engage students and increase performance. Schools in Fauquier and Chesterfield County are implementing Classworks for RtI this spring.
